14 Months

Our little man is already 14 months old!!
Time seems to be speeding up and we are trying to keep up with him! Each and every day is a new adventure of John learning a new task, mimicking us, and chasing Lucy.
What has he been up to this month well this could be a long post but I will just give the highlights, hopefully you are ready, he has been up to a lot!
  • First he has learned how to squat and play, which is so awesome to watch because it is really showing that he has balance plus it is an important milestone.
  • He has noticed that the windows have blinds on them and thinks that they are awesome to tug on. So if you come to our house all the blinds are pulled up about 6 inches which currently they are out of his reach.
  • We have been taking tons of walks since the weather has been so pretty. John just loves riding in his stroller and looking at the big world around him! Plus the company of Heather always makes the long walks worth while.
  • John has also been exploring the outside world. Andrew and I have been taking him outside so he can play in a new setting which means John finds a stick and carries it around.
  • We have rearranged the living room so he can explore everywhere but the kitchen, bathroom, our room, and the back room. You can tell that he is loving all of his new freedom but gets super frustrated when he can't get out from underneath the table or tries to fit under our chairs. Sometimes I think that he needs whiskers to show him where his HUGE he won't fit.
  • He now has eight teeth and we think that he might be working on a few more but we are waiting to see.
  • John's newest trick is climbing on the couches via anything that gives him a little height but he climbs up side ways, on occasions he rolls off and gets up doing it again. Can we say determination!
  • He is still addicted to mommy's goodness which is just fine with me! I know someday soon I will have to wean him but I don't think either of us are ready to do this...
  • He loves to self feed himself but doesn't quite get the point of using utensils. Trust me we are working on this by using puffs, cheerio's, little pieces of fruits, and anything else that will fit on his spoon.
  • He is starting to point, grunt, and ask for things he wishes to have. Even though his words aren't the true word we can understand what he wants. Just the other day he got his babysitters attention and started pointing to his hat. So he is learning how to communicate what he is wanting! Yay!!
  • He is still in love with music!
  • Loves eating!
  • We haven't been to the doctor since his one year check up so who knows how tall this little boy is, what he is currently weighing, or how large his head is. Trust me you can tell he is getting taller since all his pants are getting too short! Weight is well getting heavier. Then comes his largest asset, his precious head that causes him to wear one size up in all his shirts so he is currently wearing 18 mo shirts plus he needs the length since his torso is so long!
  • Loves it when his Uncle Tim comes to visit since he brings a new puppy to terrorize!
  • He is currently saying words/syllables in question sounds.
  • He does a modified headstand and at times tries to flip his legs over his head! That's our monkey!
I think that is enough for now and hopefully I didn't duplicate anything but trust me he has been up to a lot. Learning and exploring are our daily activities! I am so lucky to spend my days with our precious little boy and being able to capture each new milestone, activity, or anything else he decides to surprise us with!
Today was also his six month check-up for his eye and everything was perfect, he is still in the normal range! We will go back in about seven months for another check-up. His doctor also told me that he has full vision in his right eye which has the coloboma, and we won't have to most likely worry about glasses for a little while!
Sorry for no photos today I really didn't want to mess with getting them off the camera but trust me at some point they will be on here.
Please say a little prayer for my wonderful hubby!! He is on his way to the Houston area for his first ever teaching job interview! Also he has potential interviews at other schools too but this one is his first!! No matter what I will always be his biggest fan and encourage him to press on because God has a plan!
