After three years of living in our house, we decided it was time to spread out our canna lilies that previous renters planted without thinking that they will out grow their area.
One of my friends, her parents just moved out to Porter Oklahoma, on some land and they graciously took them off our hands. So we thought that three boxes would be enough. Boy, were we wrong!

The pictures above show one of the largest systems that we dug up, all the cannas that we dug up, and lastly that is the area that we took them out of. I was just happy to see our water spout and not having to worry about getting attacked by a spider trying to water the plants. As we were digging we kept finding more lilies in the small area and the other day I was watering and noticed that we missed one right up against the house. Now I need to get some grass seed and dirt to fill in the hole that we made!
Note to everyone planting bulb plants remember that they expand into systems so DO NOT plant a ton of bulbs in a small area because they will not have enough room to grow and will begin to protrude out of the ground! Also if anyone wants any canna lilies just let me know we still have a ton!!
A little side note:
Last night John decided that it would be awesome to play with his Elmo ball (it plays music, vibrates, and rolls around) right above my head and then it slipped out of his fingers, finding a resting place on the side of my head right inside my hair line barely missing my temple. Lets just say that I had a headache but two of the best boys to take care of me. Today it is still sore but I am happy that it really can't be seen!
